The sample is from Shutter Island.

Big Up The Russian Dubsteppers!

17 09 2010

I was going through my YouTube insights the other day, seeing where my mixes had been posted, when I came across this Russian blog showcasing my 2010 mix!

I used Google Chrome to translate the page and here is what they said!

Any Help Please?

25 04 2010

I’ve been re-living some of my favourite DMC Routines on DMC TV, and I can’t find that track DJ Rafik uses on his 2006 routine below…

Rafik (Germany) – 2006 DMC World DJ Championships on muzu.tv

It might just be a custom job from him, because Googling the lyrics hasn’t helped, and that rarely fails.

Cheers in advance

New Track Up on YouTube/SoundCloud

22 04 2010

I like doing mashups, and for this one I’ve used two tracks that I really love.
When I first heard “Stand Up” by The Prodigy, from their latest album “Invaders Must Die” I felt it was crying out for some verses over the top.
The first hip-hop track that really made me love the genre was Mobb Deep’s “Shook Ones, Pt. II”.

So fuck it, I put the two together, and came out with this. I’m pretty happy with it to be honest, if I do say so myself.

I’ve also made the track available for download on SoundCloud, as I had a request to do so.

Hope you enjoy it and stay tuned for new mixes and mashups from Strictlywax.

Mos Def, Black Thought and Eminem Freestyle

29 01 2010

Found this a while ago but just felt the need to blog it today. Dug it up today and it still sounds as fresh. Thanks to Dynamite MC for sharing this on Twitter.

They all kill it, mad respect for them all, cool looking video as well, they all look like they’re loving what they do, how hip-hop should be.

2 Many Tunes – New Dubstep Mix Up

14 12 2009

I thought it was about time I made a new dubstep mix, as I like to be a regular uploader, it’s good for business.

But alas, I have not bought any new records, so how could I use the same records I’ve used before and still keep it fresh?
If you’ve seen my earlier videos you’ll know that I also enjoy a lot of scratching a beat juggling, this requires quick cueing with accuracy, I enjoy the high pressure environment.

I applied these skills to my new dubstep mix. I tried to fit in as many tracks as I could into the 10 Minute length limit YouTube has. I managed to get 12 tracks in, which I’m pretty happy with, but I do think I could have fit in more.

So here it is, if you feel you can fit more into 10 Minutes, the gauntlet has been handed down so get uploading!

Tracklist:
16Bit – Classical
Skream – Filth
Trolley Snatcha – The Future
Caspa – Louder VIP
Jakes – In Tha Place To Be
Benga – Drumz West
Benga – Buzzin’
Stenchman – Atomic Drugs Activated
Benga – One Million
Caspa & Rusko – Power Shower
Skream – Fick
Trolley Snatcha – Scattah

Strictlywax on Vimeo

14 12 2009

If you haven’t heard of Vimeo, it’s basically a much higher quality of YouTube. It’s aimed at aspiring film makers and allows users to upload HD quality video.

I’ve decided to sign up myself as I do enjoy making videos but the quality and time limit of YouTube hinders me a bit. I also like to keep my YouTube channel music only, for the same reasons Sky Movies doesn’t show football matches.

Just out of curiosity as to what Vimeo can offer me, I decided to upload my progressive dubstep mix, to see what the quality was like. In my opinion it does look slightly better. I hopefully look forward to uploading more film-like videos to Vimeo in the future.

Here is the video from Vimeo.

And to compare, here is the same video but from YouTube.
